| SWU VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
The success of our organization and subsequent enjoyment of our members depends on you the volunteer. South West United (SWU) and member community soccer programs charge a volunteer deposit of $100.00 per family for players registered in U10 to U18. There are many positions, which if volunteers did not fill, would result in your child not being able to play soccer. If you do not volunteer, your fee will go towards hiring paid staff for those positions that are positively essential to Club operations and are not being done by volunteers.
Volunteer fees have proven very successful in amateur sports as a way of ensuring that there are enough people to help with the activities of the organization. The SWU fee has been set at an affordable level when measured against those of other local soccer and sports groups. Although a fee is levied for the U10 to U18 age groups you may be able to use your volunteer service with younger siblings in our U4 to U8 programs as credit towards fulfilling your volunteer requirements (see chart below). Also, as a way of helping the communities who support our programs, you MAY also be able to use certain community volunteer service as fulfillment of this responsibility.
Your contribution may be directly to a team or to other opportunities which are of benefit to the operations of the club. During the indoor season each team, through its Head Coach may identify up to eight (8) volunteers. During the outdoor season each team, through the Head Coach, may identify up to nine (9) volunteers including the Head Coach on each CMSA team and up to ten (10) volunteers including the Head Coach on each of our Recreational League (U10 and U12) teams. The opportunities are available through the SWU Volunteer Coordinator or the various partner community soccer programs and associations. Service to the club is not necessarily for volunteering to help your child's team (unless you are coaching or managing). As parents, we trust that you will continue to help and support your child's team as needed.
At the time of registration, you will be given the option of various volunteer roles to select from or the option of paying a volunteer fee of $100 immediately. By choosing this option you will not have to volunteer for any roles. Based on your selections, you may be contacted periodically throughout the season to volunteer. Please remember it is up to you, the volunteer, to ensure that you fulfill your volunteer commitment.
The numerous volunteer opportunities, which may be fulfilled in lieu of paying the fee, are itemized below. If you are interested in helping with any of these positions or have expertise in any other area please contact volunteers@cswusoccer.com.
When you have fulfilled your volunteer commitment, please ensure that your volunteer contact forwards the information to the SWU Volunteer Committee.
(Please note all families regardless of role must have a deposit cheque on file with the club in all seasons unless you have selected to pay the volunteer fee.)
